F.W. "Woody" Hockaday, pioneering Wichita auto parts dealer, is most famous for being the first person to create a dedicated system of wayfinding signage across the United States. Starting in 1915, he put up highway signs on 60,000 miles of road from Washington, D.C. all the way to Los Angeles.
