From 1906 to 1918 Wonderland Park occupied Ackerman Island in the middle of the Arkansas River in downtown Wichita. Boasting a rollercoaster, baseball park, theater and many other attractions, Wonderland was the place to be for entertainment. The WPA filled in the river's second channel in the 1930s and today there is little indication whatsoever of the countless fun times that were had on this spot back when it was on an island — but this fun local history tee tells the tale!
